Management Profiles
Francisco Lopes
Francisco Lopes is Technical Director of CPqD Telecom and IT Solutions, with
responsibilities over systems implementation, customer support and training.
He is a seventeen-year veteran of the telecommunications industry and has a
wide range of experience in software development, engineering, project
management and team building.
Mr. Lopes began at CPqD in 1986 as a transmission equipment designer and has
since then held various positions within the company. He has worked on
projects involving digital signal processing, including the development of
an integrated circuit for the ISDN U-network interface transceiver.
In 1991, Mr. Lopes joined the BSS/OSS development group. There he led a
consortium of the largest telecommunications companies in Brazil to define
the requirements for a sophisticated BSS/OSS solution that would encompass
all business processes required by a service provider. Four years later, he
was appointed project leader of the new Customer Care and Order Management
solution, coordinating a team of over 40 professionals from the
telecommunications industry.
In 1996, he became Systems Planning and Integrations manager at CPqD, a
position he held until 2000. During this time, he actively participated in
contract negotiations and relationship models to support CPqD’s transition
from an R&D division of the Brazilian telcos holding company (TELEBRAS) to
an independent company.
In 2000, Mr. Lopes joined CPqD Telecom & IT Solutions, CPqD’s North American
division. Here he led the deployment at the first USA customer site and was
responsible for all localization and customization work of the Customer Care
and Billing solutions.
Mr. Lopes graduated from the São Paulo State University’s São Carlos
Engineering School, and is certified by the São Paulo State University’s São
Carlos Mathematical Sciences Institute as Computer Sciences Specialist.
